This is Ben Lindbergh’s investigation of the story of Ella Black, a byline in Sporting Life in 1890 that caused a stream of controversy over whether the byline represented a man or a woman. In three episodes, with a great deal of 19th century context, Ben unravels the mystery. In Episode 1, Lindbergh makes excellent, extensive use of Undaunted and of my biography, Nellie Bly: Daredevil, Reporter, Feminist. Having listened, I’m glad to have been included in this fine work.
