Here’s the video of me being interviewed by Kristen Saloomey of Al Jazeera English, the able interlocutor for this Foreign Press Association briefing on Friday, June 16, connecting from her office at the UN. Kristen mentioned that she knew I had spent a year working as Newsday‘s UN correspondent (1982-83) before I was moved onto the staff of the then-fledgling New York Newsday, first as an assistant metro editor and then as one of two deputy metro editors. The metro editor, Don Forst, was the title of the paper’s actual editor-editor, because Newsday on Long Island remained the mother ship. NY Newsday had its own managing editor, too.
